IT Specialist

With guidance and support from the company’s third party managed services partner the IT Specialist will maintain day-to-day hardware and software activities and is the primary contact for IT matters for DeLeers Construction Inc., and Joseph A. Interiors LLC. The individual in this role will be the go-to person for all hardware, software, IT troubleshooting, and other IT questions. While in collaboration with the managed services provider, they will be working with all office and field/shop employees, so interpersonal and organizational skills are a must.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with third party managed services provider to support all IT needs for DeLeers Construction and Joseph A. Interiors.
- Providing operational infrastructure support, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimum utilization of IT resources.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve a range of hardware, software, and network issues.
- Configure maintain, and install new equipment, laptops, desktops, and phones.
- Ability to communicate and explain issues and resolutions with technical and non-technical resources.
- Responsibilities may include hardware, software, vendor selection, security, training, coordination, and scheduling of IT initiatives.
- Provide remote and in-person end-user support for both hardware and software-related issues.
- Configure maintain, and install new equipment, laptops, computers.
- Setting up hardware or software, diagnosing connectivity or data access problems, answering questions about hardware or software, and helping users access shared drives and devices.
- Work with MSP to anticipate and report the cost of replacing or updating computers and equipment.
- Create and update technical documentation for network installations or changes to existing installations.
- Train end users on software and systems, assisting clients with integrating technologies into their organization to advance productivity and efficiency.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Participate in meetings and communications and ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed as they are outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Keep current in industry standards by reading published information and attending authorized training and/or participating in company training programs as required.
- Perform any special assignments, additional projects, or other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position as required by management team.
WORK RELATIONSHIPS AND SCOPE:
Working collaboratively with the third party managed services provider to assist both office and field/shop employees for any IT needs. Works as an integral part of DeLeers and Joseph A. Interiors team to increase efficiency and profit through accountability (internal and external); taking ownership; good communication; quality; flexibility; customer focus (internal and external); and building positive relationships.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Associates Degree in Information Technology related field and 2+ years of IT work experience
- Preferred certifications include: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security +, CompTIA IT Fundamentals +, Exam MS-900: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Knowledge of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, Microsoft 365, FortiClient VPN, and Revit is a plus.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to bring imagination and creativity to challenging situations.
- Communication and organizational skills required, including the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively; work effectively and efficiently under pressure and time deadlines; multi-task and be able to frequently jump from one assignment to another.
- Ability to analyze problems (not just symptoms); propose reasonable solutions, make logical decisions, carry-out decisions made, and follow up with feedback where appropriate.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, some time could be spent in the field with construction crew employees where a minimal exposure to injury exists. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours. There will be some variation in work hours due to project work levels, deadlines, and other customer issues, and to ensure all bids are submitted within the allotted time frames.
